Passengers of cruise liners above all expect repose and ease from their journey. At the same time, they are far from resting purely passive: they want to know about the events taking place aboard, some want to preview their trips and visits before landing, others want to be informed about the technical data of their movable holiday residence.
We want to meet these needs and contribute to the enjoyment of live aboard with the communication- and information system Riverview, developed by JAKOTA Cruise Systems. It allows operating companies to have their clients informed about all relevant news (current speed and direction, data of position, indication of activities, trips, events). Riverview informs passengers of cruise liners all day long and across various end device under simple control of the ship management. The system allows the integration of new textual and pictorial information which (prepared in PowerPoint) can be easily updated aboard.
Additionally, the system undertakes all communication tasks (e-mail and data transfer) simultaneously. Up- and downstream the Danube, Rhine, Main, Rhône and the Saône, Riverview already provides ships successfully with UMTS, GSM and WLAN techniques.
